Moto2 GP Argentina Race – An extraordinary Tony Arbolino won the Argentine Grand Prix in the Moto2 class, the second race of the 2023 MotoGP world championship.

The Italian Team Marc VDS rider crossed the finish line ahead of pole-man Alonso Lopez (SpeedUp) and Jake Dixon (Aspar), achieving his fourth victory in Moto2, third in the last six races, and 5th consecutive podium.

The race, shortened to 14 laps due to rain, was dominated by Aron Canet's jump-start and Dixon's initial breakaway, who was then passed by Lopez, with the Speed Up driver leading the race for a long time before surrendering to #14. who took the lead with 3 laps to go.

A race worth remembering also for Team Pons riders Aron Canet and Sergio Garcia, despite the penalties. Canet, despite the double long-lap inflicted for the early start, reached the finish line fourth, immediately ahead of team-mate Garcia, with the latter starting 28th and with a long lap to pay for, a comeback worth remembering.

Darryn Binder (Intact GP) also had a good race in sixth, with the South African who, after having raced first in Moto3 and then in MotoGP, is now in Moto2 this year. Behind #15 Filip Salac (Gresini), Somkiat Chantra (Team Asia), Albert Arenas (Red Bull Ajo) and Sam Lowes (Marc VDS).

Manuel Gonzalez (VR46 MasterCamp) also scored in the points, 11th and ahead of the disappointment of the day, Pedro Acosta. The winner of Portimao was never in the game, also losing the world championship leadership, now the prerogative of Arbolino (who leads with 8 points over Canet, 12 over Acosta and 15 over Dixon, ed.). Behind Acosta Celestino Vietti (Fantic Racing), Joe Roberts (Italtrans) and Fermin Aldeguer (SpeedUp).

Lorenzo Dalla Porta (SAG) and rookie Dennis Foggia (Italtrans) finished in 23rd and 25th position respectively.
