Moto2 | German GP Race: Fernandez dominates, Vietti falls, World Championship wide open
Red Bull Ajo double with Fernandez and Acosta, Lowes on the third step of the podium
Moto2 GP Germany Race – Augusto Fernandez had no rivals in the Moto2 class German Grand Prix, the tenth stage of the 2022 Motorcycle World Championship raced on the Sachsenring toboggan.
The Team Red Bull Ajo driver, who started from the front row (third fastest, ed.), once took the lead of the race, never left it until the checkered flag.
A truly dominating race for a Red Bull Ajo double, as the rookie and 2021 Moto3 world champion Pedro Acosta beat Sam Lowes (Marc VDS), achieving the second podium in Moto2 after the one in Mugello.
Fourth on arrival was home idol Marcel Schrotter (Intact GP), who beat Fermin Aldeguer's Speed Up. Also in the Top Ten are Albert Arenas (Aspar), Alonso Lopez (Speed Up), Ai Ogura (Team Asia), Aron Canet (Pons) and Tony Arbolino (Marc VDS).
Also scoring points were Jake Dixon (Aspar), Manuel Gonzalez (VR46 Master Camp), Joe Roberts (Italtrans), Cameron Beaubier (American Racing) and Somkiat Chantra (Team Asia).
A race to forget for Celestino Vietti, who made a bad start (starting from the third row) and crashed with 7 laps to go when he was fighting for 12th position.
For the Mooney VR46 Racing Team driver it is the third "zero" after those in the United States and Mugello, the second in the last three races.
Now #13's lead in the standings over its rivals has been significantly reduced; there is an 8 point margin over Ogura, 12 over Fernandez, 17 over Canet and 38 over Arbolino.
