Moto2 GP Catalonia Race – Celestino Vietti wins the Catalan Grand Prix, ninth stage of the Moto2 class Motorcycle World Championship.

The Italian driver, who started from pole, made a terrible start which forced him to make an incredible comeback.

Only towards the end, after race leader Joe Roberts crashed with over two seconds ahead of the group, was he able to get back into the fight for victory, alternating in the final stages at the top of the standings with Aron Canet.

The Mooney VR46 Racing Team driver took the victory only under the checkered flag, preceding the Spaniard by just 81 thousandths after a beautiful overtaking a few corners from the finish line.

Augusto Fernandez (Red Bull Ajo) managed to beat Jake Dixon (GASGAS) at the end to take the third step of the podium.

Marcel Schrotter (Intact GP) finished in fifth position ahead of Pedro Acosta (Red Bull Ajo) and Ai Ogura (Team Asia). Manuel Gonzalez (VR46 Master Camp) and Tony Arbolino (Marc VdS) complete the top ten. Lorenzo Dalla Porta (ItalTrans) is out of the ten and finishes eleventh.

The other Italians were out of the points with Stefano Manzi (VR46 Master Camp) who finished in 16th position, Niccolò Antonelli (Mooney VR46 Racing Team) 19th and Simone Corsi (Mv Agusta Forward) 22nd. Alessandro Zaccone (Gresini) fell.

With this victory (the third of the season) Vietti reaches 133 points, 16 more than Ogura and 24 on Canet. Fourth is Augusto Fernandez with 37 points, while Tony Arbolino is fifth, 44 points behind.
