Five Italians in the "virtual" Q2
Moto2 Australian GP Phillip Island Free Practice 2 – The second free practice session of the Moto2 class Australian Grand Prix was held in the sun and in the dry, unlike FP1, which was held on wet asphalt and rain tyres.
The fastest in FP2 was once again Jorge Martin who, after having won FP1 with a time of 1:45.823, took FP2 as his own with a time of 1:33.010.
The KTM rookie preceded team-mate Brad Binder by 0.343s, the Speed Up of the Spaniard Jorge Navarro and his brand teammates Iker Lecuona (who will be in MotoGP with KTM next year, ed.) and the best of the Italian riders, Marco Bezzecchi (Team Tech 3).
Tetsuta Nagashima (SAG Team) is sixth and ahead of our Nicolò Bulega (Sky Racing Team VR46) and the leader of the world championship classification Alex Marquez (Team Marc VDS).
Jesko Raffin (NTS) is ninth, ahead of the MV Agusta of our Stefano Manzi's Team Forward. In the provisional Q2, which could be definitive given the weather forecast for FP3, also Thomas Luthi, the rookie Enea Bastianini and the Team Pons drivers Augusto Fernandez and Lorenzo Baldassarri.
Fifteenth time for rookie Fabio Di Giannantonio (Speed Up). Luca Marini (Sky Racing Team VR46) was in difficulty and finished twentieth after the crash in FP1, while Mattia Pasini finished 24th.
