Voxan Wattman Max Biaggi – Max Biaggi achieved 21 speed records riding the Voxan Wattman electric motorbike.

On Monday 22 November the most coveted of all world records was broken, an objective which was achieved in Florida, at Cape Canaveral, precisely at the John F. Kennedy Space Center, which is the facility for launching NASA space vehicles.

With a speed of 455.737 km/h (283.182 mph), Max Biaggi and the Voxan Wattman achieved the prestigious world record in the 'partially aerodynamic electric motorcycle under 300 kg' class.

In line with FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) regulations, the speed of the Voxan Wattman was measured from a flying start of over 1km in opposite directions, within a two-hour period. According to Federation rules, the final speed is the average of the two speeds recorded in these two races.

The Wattman's GPS speedometer recorded a top speed of 470.257 km/h (292.204 mph). The Voxan with its distinctive gray styling, designed by Sacha Lakic, was a lightning-fast performer.

On Sunday 21 November, riding a version without fairing, Max Biaggi accepted the challenge over a distance of 1 km, with a flying start. The principle was identical: 1 km in opposite directions, within a two-hour period. Once again, the final speed was the average of the two recorded speeds. The new world record in the 'non-aerodynamic electric motorcycle under 300 kg' class is now 369.626 km/h (229.675 mph).

Gildo Pastor's team had a number of other world records in their sights. After these six days of attempts, the final record count is as follows:

Statements Max Biaggi speed record Voxan Wattman

“What a rush of adrenaline guys! It's something that overwhelms you!!! In those moments when you are sitting on the motorbike and waiting for the green light to leave, a thousand thoughts pass quickly through your mind. The gray ribbon of the track seems infinite and merges with the sky! You go through all the procedures and try not to think about the fact that you will be flying at half the speed of sound, with the wind trying to impose its will!
Then you leave and after endless moments on the instrument you read 470 km/h! Crazy... At that speed the suit on the arms and back vibrates. And to say that my obsessiveness always leads me to take care of everything down to the smallest detail. My suits are very tight at every point, but obviously at those speeds everything is extremely relative. This minimal fluttering of the very high frequency suit generates heat on my skin, almost to the point of burning. It almost feels like I'm riding my Vespa in a t-shirt at 100 km/h. Incredible, I've never had so much adrenaline in my body!”

Statements Gildo Pastore, President of the Venturi Group, speed record Voxan Wattman Max Biaggi

“In less than a year, we managed to lower the weight of the bike, increasing its power and improving its stability. Following the records we set in November 2020 in the “over 300kg” class, these 21 new records are another magnificent reward for the Venturi Group, for Max Biaggi and for our esteemed partners, Saft, Michelin and Mercedes. I am happy to think that the experience gained from this project will contribute to improving eco-mobility. I share these records with my country, Monaco, which does so much to promote sustainable development.”
