Everything on the track of the next Barcelona GP….

TRACK
Just a week before the race on the technically very demanding circuit
of Mugello in Italy, the riders and technicians have to face another
very complex challenge this weekend in Catalunya. The Spanish circuit
it is characterized by long curves of constant radius, which emphasize
the fluid driving styles and the good chassis and front tire solutions.
However, a couple of factors complicate things: the asphalt
has become increasingly erratic in recent years, making
suspension adjustment is difficult and uncertain; also, the environment
dusty can cause frequent, unpredictable variations in adhesion,
when the wind blows the dust on the asphalt.

The Catalunya circuit is located in the heart of motorcycling Spain: it is
was added to the GP calendar in 1992, when it hosted the Grand Prix
of Europe. Wayne Rainey (Marlboro Team Roberts Yamaha) won first
GP of the 500 GP class on this track in May '92. In '96,
the event was renamed the Grand Prix of Catalunya.

CATALONIA: 4.727km/2.937 miles
Lap record: Valentino Rossi (Honda), 1m 45.594s
Pole position 2002: Max Biaggi (Yamaha), 1m 44.523s
