Capirossi flies to South Africa

Loris Capirossi ahead of Valentino Rossi for a Honda dominance in the 500 and Melandri on Aprilia the fastest in the 250: good news arrives for the Italian centaurs from the first official practice session for the South African Grand Prix. The tests, with little wind and a temperature on the Welkom track of 25 degrees, saw a disappointing Max Biaggi in the half liter (just tenth). But above all in the 500 he amazed Capirossi, the only one to finish under one minute and 36 minutes and with more than half a second ahead of Rossi. In the 250 there was also sixth place for Locatelli and seventh for Rolfo while in the 125 the fastest was the Japanese Youichi Ui. The Italians set the fifth (Cecchinello), sixth (Sabbatini), seventh (Scalvini) and tenth times (Sanna).
