Nicky Hayden knew that the Sachsenring race would be tough for him and the Ducati, but he hoped to do better than ninth place. In the Warm Up he crashed with bike #1 and had to race with the second. The feeling wasn't the same and above all the bike had no grip. His was a tough and lonely race, he has the say.

“It wasn't exactly the race I expected. This morning in the warm-up I was doing quite well until I crashed a few minutes from the end. Although it wasn't a serious crash, unfortunately the chassis was slightly damaged and so I had to use the other GP13 for the race. I had tried little with this bike and it didn't give me the same feeling as the other one and above all it didn't have much grip. In the first laps, every time I pushed the rear would go away. So for me it was a long and lonely race! We need to try to better understand what happened, because we had a better race pace over the course of the weekend, especially with used tyres. As always, it's really a shame because the guys on the team gave their all and deserved some satisfaction.”
