Since the Brno race, Yamaha has lost a bit of acceleration and top speed compared to last year and especially compared to the first races of 2009, something that didn't happen to Ducati and Honda. This is because the quota of engines started from the GP of the Czech Republic which until the end of the year will not be able to exceed 5 units. Furthermore, this is only the beginning as from next season only six engines will be available for the entire duration of the races. Here's what Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo think as reported by Crash.net.

“Unfortunately, the situation is very negative for the development of the bike – said Rossi – because there are no money problems at all without testing and it is not possible to work much on the engines because the quantity of engines allowed for next year is very low. So you have to think more about kilometers than performance. This is quite frustrating for a MotoGP rider, because in past years we have worked a lot more on the bike. We have to work, because ours is a fantastic bike, but we don't have enough power. What I mean is the setup is good in the corners, but we need a little more horsepower, because we lost a bit from Brno."

Here is also the thought of Jorge Lorenzo
“I agree with Vale (Rossi, ed.). I think we lost something on the straights from Brno. Now the Ducati and, above all, the Honda are faster in acceleration. But I think Yamaha is working on the new regulations for next year, so maybe the only way to improve is to improve the riding style and that's what I will try to do.”
