In Italy the press is now taking Dovizioso's move to Ducati for next year as a given. The man from Forlì would have offered himself to the red team because he was left out of the official Yamaha team for next year. But today at MC, Hervè Poncharal, team director of the Tech3 team where Dovizioso currently races, said that he is waiting for a positive response from his two riders to renew also for 2013.

“At the moment neither Dovizioso nor Crutchlow – Poncharal said – they told me they will leave the team at the end of the year. This weekend many people called me to ask me about Dovizioso's move to Ducati. It could also happen, but I spoke to the pilot and he assured me that he hasn't made any decisions yet and that when it does I'll be the first to know. As for Crutchlow, I haven't spoken to his representative for a couple of days, but a little while ago he assured me that they were interested in continuing with us. Anyway I expect a response by the Indianapolis Grand Prix. If they both decide to leave then we will start looking for alternatives. I would like to have young drivers, to grow talent for the future"

  • All the media took the deal as a fact, I thought he had signed!
If he goes to Ducati, it's a no-brainer choice, but if he really wants to win a championship he has to go to superbike! Now MotoGP is falling apart... and SBK is by no means an inferior championship!

Sbk? Very fun races to watch, but the level is much lower than MotoGP.
If Lorenzo Pedrosa Rossi goes to SBK they give the others a ride.
Just look at all the "phenomena" that have come from winners in SBK and the pain they have done, including Bayliss, who raced in MotoGP for years without accomplishing anything.

If Dovi went there, he would win big: but do you remember when the young Sic beat Biaggi with his used motorbike for just two days?

      1. I can agree that the first 3/4 of the MotoGP are a step above, but then it would have been a real start. MotoGP is now crap, always the same 3 in front, zero overtaking and this year the CRT idea is really pitiful... however it is absolutely not true that Bayliss did very badly and even a certain Tex Tornado did very well.
Different circuits and different bikes, it's normal that those who join aren't immediately at the top and can struggle to adapt. They are two distinct things, there is no absolute "best" championship in terms of level. As for everything else, SBK has always been ahead, real races

      2. and as for the legendary Sic in race 1 he overtook Biaggi who it must be said was fighting for the world championship with a truly over the top overtaking at the chicane, something that almost made both of them fall... while in race 2 Sic himself fell. It went amazingly but he was in a race where he could risk everything while the others were thinking about the points for the title, so in my opinion it's not valid as a comparison.
Anyway Simoncelli real crazy horse, we love him for this!

People who win a race then disappear into anonymity are of no use and no one remembers them.
But do you remember Toseland who arrived in Motogp thinking he was going to break everything when instead he broke everything... Edwards has never done anything other than a few podiums with an official bike, we can all see Spies, Bayliss seems like a podium or two in years of Ducati and Honda Camel…
In short, would I see a Dovi as perfect for trying to win straight away in SBK instead of beating a supporting player like Cruchlow (something else he had to do who knows what in MotoGP ha ha ha)?

I remind you that Vermulen also won a competition before going to "Who saw it" ahahahah

in the end Dovi will go to Ducati (where he will also get some good money) and Crutchlow will remain in Tech 3, after all they can't do otherwise, there are NO alternatives.

I don't know if he'll do it, Dovi has the alternative, staying in tech 3 and next year riding the bike that Lorenzo now has.

I would have liked to find competent people but I see that 70% are just fans. and the fans don't do honor to their favorites because I too am a red fan but when I judge I judge like a sportsman.

if Dovizioso goes to Ducati he will ruin all the good work done, he has a very clean ride... which I would define as scholastic... for Ducati I can see a new one.

I agree wholeheartedly. On the Ducatona we need someone who is pissed off, who rides badly like Stoner did. I also hope for Dovi that he doesn't go there, obviously he would earn a lot more, but I don't think it's a bike suitable for him. We need someone who cares always open, a nice "dirty" one in the leadership, pretentious and complaining prima donnas (and this is not the case with Dovi),...they've had enough I think!

I hope that someone doesn't get offended, I hope that Rossi, by switching to Yamaha, wins like he won back then, just so as a sportsman I can become a fan

I really hope that Dovizioso stays where he is, if he goes to Ducati he will ruin his career and I would be very sorry!

Dovi in ducati (I feel very sorry for him) would end up like melandri..gibe..etc

He is not a suitable rider for that bike!!!!!!!
Dear Dovi, for your career, stay where you are!!

I wouldn't even go there for 10 million euros! Don't do it Dovi!!!!!!
