MotoGP Aragon: Will Marquez stop Lorenzo's comeback?

The Majorcan and Pedrosa must recover 34 points on world championship leader Marc Marquez

The world championship arrives at Motorland in Aragon, where the fourteenth stage of 2013 (eighteen in total) will take place next Sunday. The last two races went to Jorge Lorenzo, who won both at Silverstone and Misano, where his Yamaha was equipped with the new seamless gearbox.

At the moment the reigning champion seems to be the only one capable of keeping up with world championship leader Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team), who has a 34 point advantage over both the Majorcan and his team-mate Dani Pedrosa.

At Aragon Marquez will therefore try to stop the comeback of the #99, who to hope for a winning comeback must win the remaining races and hope that someone, Pedrosa for example, gets in between himself and the Honda rookie. Lorenzo had clearly said after Misano that unless there are "sensational" events such as crashes or breakages, it will be really difficult to recover, but in his heart he hopes for it.

However, if we look at last year we shouldn't underestimate Pedrosa himself either. In fact, Honda's #26 began his comeback in Aragon, winning three consecutive races before crashing at Phillip Island, saying goodbye to his dreams of glory.

Our Valentino Rossi, who has obtained too many "wooden" medals this season, also hopes to enter the fight for the top three positions. The nine-time world champion (who yesterday made his entry into Moto3 official with a Team sponsored by Sky and with Romano Fenati in the saddle) had a good test after Misano, where he seems to have improved the problems on entry that had slowed him down in the race.

The one who needs to reverse course is certainly Cal Crutchlow, who returned from a race that fell short of expectations. The next Ducati MotoGP rider seems to have lost the right path, but in his defense there is also the arm injury, which has tormented him since Silverstone.

As for the Hondas of the SAT Teams of Alvaro Bautista and Stefan Bradl, the objective is to reconfirm themselves in the top positions. The Spaniard didn't go too well at Misano, but the tests had given positive results, while the German seems to have regained his competitiveness.

Ducati Chapter

The Rossa from Borgo Panigale has climbed onto the podium twice in Aragon, but this time it seems like an unachievable dream. The trend has not changed since the beginning of the year, on the contrary, if we want, it has worsened given that Honda and Yamaha have made progress. There will still be some suffering, even if there is curiosity around Yonny Hernandez, who will make his debut in a race weekend riding the GP13 of the injured Ben Spies.

As already written there will also be the debut of Luca Scassa riding the ART of the injured Karel Abraham. This is a great opportunity for the Italian driver, who wants to do well to be reconfirmed for the remaining races of 2013. He will have to deal with his CRT compatriots Danilo Petrucci and Claudio Corti, both still without a contract with a view to 2014.
