Moto2 Sepang: Zarco beats Morbidelli, pole goes to the Frenchman
Second and third row for Lorenzo Baldassarri and Mattia Pasini
GP Malaysia Moto2 Qualifying – The pole position of the Moto2 class Malaysian Grand Prix went to Johann Zarco. The leader of the world championship achieved it with a time of 2:18.621 on a track that gradually dried out, but which did not allow the riders to use slick tyres. This is the sixth pole of the season for the Team Ajo Motorsport driver.
Our Franco Morbidelli and Axel Pons will start in the front row with the reigning champion. Morbidelli, who in Australia had seen the victory slip away by just 10 thousandths from Thomas Luthi (fifth today, ed.) was in the lead for a long time, but then was unable to do anything against the Frenchman.
The German Jonas Folger, Thomas Luthi and our Lorenzo Baldassarri, rider of Forward Racing, will start from the second row.
Mattia Pasini also qualified well, starting from the third row, eighth fastest. The Team Italtrans rider is "in the middle" of the Belgian Xavier Simeon and the Australian Remy Gardner, in his best qualifying in Moto2.
Simone Corsi and Luca Marini got the fourth row, while Alessandro Nocco, who replaces the injured Miguel Oliveira on the Leopard Racing Kalex, got the sixth.
Alex Marquez and Alex Rins are in difficulty, on the seventh and eighth row respectively.
