SBK, BMW Motorrad Italia towards Aragon with the optimism deriving from the podium missed by Ayrton Badovini at Misano

The BMW Motorrad Italia Superbike Team is looking forward to the Motorland Aragon race with the optimism deriving from the podium missed by Ayrton Badovini at Misano and the positive debut of Lorenzo Lanzi on the BMW S 1000 RR, who returned after a long period of inactivity. In Superstock Zanetti and Barrier are aiming for another excellent performance after the one in Monza.

Eleventh place in the general classification of the Superbike World Championship - which is actually a joint tenth - is a starting point and not an arrival point for the BMW Motorrad Italia Superbike Team in this first season in the top series derivative category. The podium missed by Ayrton Badovini last Sunday on the Misano Adriatico circuit in Romagna is proof of this. Halfway through the Championship, Ayrton has 72 points to his credit.
Lorenzo Lanzi will ride on the team's second bike, replacing James Toseland in this race too. Lorenzo doesn't know the track, where he has never ridden, but he will be able to count on his experience driving the BMW S 1000 RR in the Misano race, where he took a 15th and an 11th place, gaining world championship points.
In Superstock the third and fourth places, collected respectively by Lorenzo Zanetti and Sylvain Barrier at the Misano World Circuit, give further confidence to the BMW Motorrad Italia STK Team. The presence of long straights should allow the drivers to make the most of the qualities of the German four-cylinder.
Serafino Foti, sporting director of the BMW Motorrad Italia Superbike Team, declared: “After Ayrton's good performance in Misano, we face the Aragon weekend with optimism, also due to the fact that we have already tested on that track and have drawn some indications , albeit with a different asphalt temperature compared to what we will find in the race. With Ayrton knowing the track we expect a positive weekend. Lorenzo Lanzi has never raced on this circuit and will have to adapt. After the Misano race he knows the bike a little more and while continuing to get the hang of it, he will be able to concentrate on knowing the track. We also tested with the Superstock and this allows us some optimism."
