For Alex Lowes the weekend just ended will be one to remember: in addition to his debut in MotoGP in the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team in place of the injured Bradley Smith in his home race at Silverstone, he managed to score points thanks to 13th place.

Third in mixed track conditions in the morning warm up, Lowes started very confident: at his second start, the 25-year-old English driver completed the first lap in 17th position but managed to immediately move up to 14th, but with five laps to go he managed to obtain thirteenth position over Eugene Laverty.

“Overall I have to be satisfied with how my weekend ended and I learned a lot in my first MotoGP experience, which I think was incredible” – he said alex lowes – “The unstable weather conditions made the situation more complicated, and this was an additional challenge for me given that it was my debut on the YZR-M1. As for the race itself, it was the first time I ran with a full tank and it was also the first time I did more than six laps in a row. The learning curve is steep and it was difficult. In the first laps I blocked the front when braking a couple of times, and this made me lose a bit of confidence, but after that I tried to understand the new behavior of the bike regarding fuel and tire life. I also watched the riders around me and learned a lot. In the end I finished the race 40 seconds behind the leader and 20 seconds behind Lorenzo in my first MotoGP race. It's positive, but the main objective was to reach the checkered flag and score some points. I feel like I could have ridden better, but maybe I'm a little too hard on myself. Plus, I didn't know what to expect. Now I have a couple of days to metabolize everything to be stronger in San Marino. I want to say a big thank you to the entire Tech3 team who did a great job this weekend and I'm grateful for the opportunity.”

While waiting to hit the track again with the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team for the Misano GP, scheduled for this weekend at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, Alex is already in Magny-Cours for a two-day WorldSBK test with his teammate of team Sylvain Guintoli.
