On Sunday Hector Faubel and his Team Manager, Jorge "Aspar", Martinez were awarded the "Golden Penguin" in the event organized by Turismoto in Valladolid, which hosted 50.000 motorcyclists. Faubel was unanimously voted best rider, while Martinez received the award based on the results obtained in 125cc and 250cc with his team. But the event, now in its twenty-seventh edition, was also a good opportunity for Faubel to talk about the now imminent jump in category.

“This looks like an interesting season, in which I hope to have fun with the bike”, declared the 125cc world vice-champion. “If there are no problems, I'm sure the results will come. I'm not afraid of anyone because value is demonstrated on the track". Hector then also spoke about the season that ended in 2007, which saw him second in the general classification, behind Gabor Talmacsi, his teammate: “It makes me angry that I let the title slip away because I was close and had a few points behind me, but the problems at the end of the season didn't allow me to become champion”.

He then said a few words about his new teammate, Alvaro Bautista: “We get along well, even if there are no friends on the track”, has explained, “In any case it won't be like with Gabor, because I really didn't get along with him”. Finally, at the end of the press conference, there was no shortage of thanks for the award received, which gave him more satisfaction than a victory on the track.
