250 cc – Sachsenring QP2 – Alex De Angelis takes pole

Alex De Angelis will start from pole position tomorrow in the 250 class German GP. The Aprilia rider from San Marino, who thus repeated last year's pole position, stopped the clock at a time of 1'24"618, preceding the reigning champion by just 96 thousandths and world championship leader Dani Pedrosa who achieved the best time this morning in the second free practice session. The Spaniard in turn precedes his compatriot Jorge Lorenzo by 287 thousandths; Argentinian Sebastian Porto's Aprilia closes the front row.

Excellent qualifying sessions for Japanese Honda riders Hiroshi Aoyama and Yuki Takahashi who clocked 5th and 6th times ahead of Aprilia Australian Casey Stoner and Donington Park winner Randy De Puniet. Third row for the Spaniard Barbera, Andrea Dovizioso from Forlì, Roberto Locatelli from Bergamo and Anthony West's KTM which had debuted with a splendid podium in the wet at Donington Park.

Fourteenth time for the Roman Simone Corsi, seventeenth for Alex Baldolini, twentieth for Mirko Giansanti, twenty-fourth for Andrea Ballerini and thirty-fifth for Gabriele Ferro with Fantic Motor.
