250 cc – Losail QP2 – Lorenzo wins pole position

After the pole and victory in Jerez de la Frontera, Jorge Lorenzo also took pole position in the 250 class Qatar GP. The Team Fortuna Aprilia rider achieved it on the sixteenth of the eighteen laps completed, stopping the clock at a time of 2'01 ″755, new track record! Behind him was his teammate and compatriot Hector Barbera who, however, was unable to improve on yesterday's time. Great performance for Roberto Locatelli who, riding the Team Toth Aprilia, took third place ahead of Alex de Angelis from San Marino.

Sebastian Porto breaks Aprilia's dominance with his Honda, the Argentinian is in fact fifth ahead of Jacob Smrz and the two KTMs of Hiroshi Aoyama and Manuel Poggiali. After the terrible weekend in Jerez, the latter returned as a protagonist in a category which in 2003 saw him win the world title astride the Aprilia.

Marco Simoncelli, on the other hand, falls again and seems to find a few more difficulties than expected on his debut in the category. However, the Gilera rider achieved the 13th fastest time ahead of Andrea Ballerini.
