GMC Australian Grand Prix, Phillip Island, welcome to the third last round of the 2007 MotoGP. In the splendid land of kangaroos, as per tradition, it was the 125 that opened the proceedings with the first free practice session (wet by rain) which offered the best time by Sergio Gadea, leader in 1'51"752. The standard bearer of Jorge Martinez's team (and will also be so for the next two seasons) precedes the "usual" (as regards wet performance) Mike Di Meglio by 350 thousandths followed by Simone Corsi, the excellent Michael "Miki ” Ranseder and Lukas Pesek. In sixth position we find Gabor Talmacsi, who started much better than Hector Faubel, 20th, more than 5 seconds from the top.

As for the other protagonists of the eighth-litre class, we find Tomoyoshi Koyama in seventh position, with Lorenzo Zanetti 13th, Raffaele De Rosa 14th, with Lombardi and Iannone further behind. Only 5 laps for Mattia Pasini, stopped in 30th position, with Ferruccio Lamborghini, product of the Aprilia Junior GP single-brand, replacing Federico Sandi within Italo Fontana's Skilled team, very last.
