Mattia Pasini obtained provisional pole for the Japanese GP, the fourth to last race of the 2007 season. The Team Polaris World driver achieved it with a time of 1'58"283 right at the end of the session ahead of the Hungarian Gabor Talmacsi trailed by 187 thousandths. Behind the Team Bancaja Aspar rider we find the Roman Simone Corsi riding the Aprilia of the Skilled Racing Team and the home rider Tomoyoshi Koyama riding the KTM.

Fifth time for the Estoril winner Hector Faubel, the Spaniard who stopped the clock at a time of 1'58"078, followed by the Czech from Derbi Lukas Pesek (1'59"200), from the Englishman from Team Honda Repsol Bradley Smith (1'59"235) and by Derbi's Spaniard Nicolas Terol.
