125cc Estoril, Race: Terol wins by a landslide over Cortese, Zarco outsmarts Viñales at the finish line

After the MotoGP race, the 125cc riders also take to the track. When the traffic lights went out, poleman Nico Terol easily took first place, followed by the host, the Portuguese Miguel Oliveira. Sandro Cortese follows in third place, but in a few corners he passes Oliveira and starts chasing Terol. The Spaniard himself, on the second lap, is already almost two seconds behind.

Meanwhile, the few Italians in 125 are not convincing: after the absence of Tonucci, Morciano gets an early start and is penalized with a ride through, while the best is still Grotzky Giorgi, but well outside the top ten. At mid-race, Terol leads solidly six seconds behind Faubel, who with 11 laps to go overtakes Sandro Cortese and takes second place.

In fact, the only point of a brawl in the race was between Cortese and Faubel: a few laps from the end, the German managed to advance the Spaniard again, only to then lose the rear and give the position back to his opponent. The Italian-German, however, doesn't seem to give in, and once again puts the wheels in front of Faubel. With five laps to go, Vinales and Zarco also seem to be able to have their say in the fight for the podium: in fact Faubel crashes and leaves the two fighting for third position.

In the end Zarco and Vinales finish the race at the photo finish, with the Frenchman beating the Spaniard by just a few thousandths. Up front, Nico Terol wins, as expected, with a 3 second lead, while Cortese is second. The Italian Grotzky Giorgi reaches tenth position.
