Mattia Pasini (Totti Top Sport) and Marco Simoncelli (NoCable) will start from the front row in the Czech Republic GP. The two Italian drivers achieved, after the second round of official testing, the second fastest time respectively (2'08"870 at three thousandths from the pole set by Luthi) and the fourth time reference (2'08”953). Pasini was the author of a second round of official testing in clear progression, his time is better than the one set yesterday of 0'519.

“But pole is useless – commented Mattia – you don't get points with that, Sunday counts. I certainly could have been faster but I spent all of this practice session outlining the right set-up for the race. This time I managed to do the last laps alone without traffic and this allowed me to stay focused, but I didn't give it my all. Tomorrow in the warm up we will make the final adjustments.”

Team NoCable rider Marco Simoncelli also reduced his time from yesterday significantly.

“Compared to the first round of testing – explains Marco – I improved by over eight tenths, I am very satisfied. I couldn't do more also because in the end, in the last laps of the session, the track looked like a battlefield. While I was pulling I realized that many riders had fallen in almost all the corners of the track and I preferred to make do. The bike goes well, I just have some reservations about the front which doesn't give me much confidence. For tomorrow I expect a better race than last year when I crashed on the third lap, we will definitely have another group race.”

Worth noting is the good performance of Raffaele De Rosa. The driver from Campania who races for Matteoni's team closed his qualifying session with a time of 2'09”896, a time that will see him start from 10th position tomorrow. For De Rosa this is the best qualifying result of the season.

Lorenzo Zanetti of Skilled Racing also improved by 0.159s, but his position went from eighth yesterday to 15th today. Hector Faubel qualified behind the Italian and in today's session was unable to improve on his 2'10”176 set in the first round of official practice.
