Michael van der Mark will long remember the Sunday racing at the TT Circuit in Assen, for the fourth round of the championship: in front of his audience the rookie of the Pata Honda team, reigning World Supersport Champion, won the title in both races third place finish.

Not an easy result because it was the result of a tough fight with Leon Haslam: van der Mark took very high risks to stay ahead of the Aprilia rider, given the difference in performance of the two bikes, demonstrating all his talent.
Double satisfaction in the Pata Honda pits: it is the home round for the Assen team too.

“Leon and I were fast at different points on the track, but I knew I had to make my move. At Ramshoek I tried, even though I wasn't totally sure of the outcome, but then at the chicane he tried to get the upper hand on the outside. We both braked very late and therefore ended up off the line” – he said Michael van der Mark, also admitting that – “The two podiums go well beyond my expectations on the eve. I thank the team because the bike really worked very well this weekend and now I look forward to the Imola race. On Saturday we changed the clutch but it seems there was a problem. Anyway I just had to work a little harder. On the return lap I was thrilled to see all the fans standing in the stands. I'm really proud that so many people came.” concluded van der Mark.
