At MotorLand Aragon Yamaha worked ahead of the start of the 2022 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship with three teams on track: Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK, GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team and Gil Motor Sport-Yamaha.
The test was originally scheduled for Thursday 3 and Friday 4 March but the threat of bad weather conditions meant that all three teams took to the track on Wednesday for a few laps before the rain arrived.

World champion Toprak Razgatlioglu signed the best time in 1'49.746, completing a total of 110 in two days: the reigning champion lapped below the times set in the race during the Aragon Round.
Third time for his teammate Andrea Locatelli, two tenths behind Razgatlioglu: the Italian driver completed 30 laps yesterday to which another 85 were added today for a total of 115.
The Pata Yamaha team worked mainly on the mechanical aspect of its Yamaha YZF-R1 including some changes to the electronics as well as aiming to improve the acceleration of the bike to try to increase the performance of the engine. The Lombard rider used Pirelli's SC0 tire for the entire test. In Locatelli's garage, work was also done on the bike's suspension.
Excellent test also for Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) in what was the first outing of 2022 for him and his team: the American lapped in 1'49.820, coming just 74 thousandths off Razgatlioglu's time. Gerloff hopes to repeat the good things done in these tests in Aragon also during the first round of 2022 which will be staged on the Spanish track.
His teammate Kohta Nozane set the fourth fastest time in 1'51.238.
GRT Yamaha managed to test the same tank that Razgatlioglu used in the Portimao test, but in these two days the main objective was linked to the rider's position and the balance of the bike.
Christophe Ponsson together with Gil Motor Sport-Yamaha completed 84 laps over the two days, 74 today and 10 on Wednesday.

WorldSBK times from Aragon test:

1. Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK) 1'49.746, 110 laps
