Superbike – Portimao Test Day 1 – Smrz precedes Rea and Laverty

Precisely in the final stages of the first day of testing in Portimao, the Czech Jakub Srmz on the Ducati of the Effenbert – Liberty Racing team set the best time, ahead of Jonathan Rea (Castrol Honda) who had been at the top of the ranking for almost all of the two sessions. In the final phase of the session, Eugene Laverty rose to third position with the Yamaha R1, just ahead of a very fast Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team).

Carlos Checa (Ducati Althea Racing) had no consequences in the morning's crash and after being in second position for a long time, he finished in fifth position ahead of Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia) who carried out a routine job without looking for a time. Behind the World Champion we find Michel Fabrizio (Suzuki Alstare).

Program for setting up and checking the various components for James Toseland and Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia SBK team) while Marco Melandri (Yamaha Team) continues to ride testing his post-operative physical condition.
