Superbike: Phillip Island Test Day 2, Sykes surprisingly ahead of Checa

Tom Sykes, Kawasaki rider, achieved the best time on the second and final day of Superbike testing at the Phillip Island circuit, Australia. The Huddersfield rider in fact stopped the clock at a time of 1'31.648 (time set in the morning session), bringing his ZX-10R ahead of the Ducati 1098R of reigning champion Carlos Checa.

Third time for Max Biaggi; the Roman rider lapped in 1'32"371, putting Jonathan Rea's Honda in fourth behind him (best time of 1'32"403 for him). Davide Giugliano (Althea Racing Ducati) did well, seventh. The drivers will return to the track on Friday for the first day of testing for the first round of the 2012 season, a season which opens with great prospects given the massive presence of top-level manufacturers and drivers.
