The Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team also carried out a day of testing this week at the Misano World Circuit – Marco Simoncelli in view of the eighth round of the season, scheduled in about fifteen days on this track.

It is not an easy moment for the English Yamaha-powered team which has seen, during the last rounds, both of its starting riders knocked out by injuries: with Sylvain Guintoli already out of action since qualifying for the Imola round, Alx Lowes also had to give forfeit at Donington due to less than perfect physical condition following the broken collarbone suffered in Malaysia.
Guintoli should be back on track at Misano, but there is no definitive official announcement yet.

Fortunately, the young rookie has already gotten back on track and was able to carry out the scheduled work, despite not being at 100% yet: with him was the STK1000 rider Niccolò Canepa, who joined the WorldSBK team in replacement of Sylvain Guintoli, still convalescent.

Alex Lowes completed 60 laps in total, working on several elements including new electronic control strategies, with a focus on traction control, new front fork settings, suspension and the YZF-R1 chassis.

“I'm still a bit frustrated because we still have a lot of things to try, but I'm not fit enough to do everything” – he explained alex lowes – “However, the work we did was good and I am optimistic for the races. I would like to thank the whole team for the great work they did on such a busy day. I really appreciated it".

“I'm happy with the test” – he said Niccolò Canepa – “I tried many things to continue the development of the bike and we had some good feedback. It's generally not easy to go from a Stock bike to a Superbike, but the YZF-R1 is very easy and I felt comfortable from the first ride. It's a shame that it started raining in the afternoon, but it was good for the team to test even on wet asphalt. I hope that the new improvements found can help Lowes and Guintoli to be fast at Misano for the next round."
