A good third place for Sylvain Guintoli in Race 2 closes Aprilia's weekend at Donington and somehow saves the overall performance of the team, which saw Melandri fall due to a race contact with Alex Lowes in Race 2 while he was fighting for the top , after overtaking Loris Baz.

With this result the French driver keeps himself at the top of the world rankings, 11 points from second place and 37 from the top.
It's a shame that in the first race a forehand, while dueling with Baz, forced him to seventh place.

Marco Melandri on the other hand, after having achieved a good fourth place in Race 1 behind only the two elusive Kawasakis and an Alwx Lowes in truly excellent form on his home track, the rider from Ravenna was involuntarily hit by the rookie in Race 2 while he was at second place, during the fifth lap.
Back on his RSV4, but only after a long break which relegated him to the bottom of the standings, he was however unable to recover to the points zone, finishing 17th.

“Race 1 didn't go as I hoped. I started well and was pushing, but then I couldn't keep the pace and I really struggled” - he said Sylvain Guintoli– “Then the Team did an extraordinary job for Race 2, the bike has changed a lot and the pace has improved a lot compared to the first race. I pushed hard to get rid of Davide Giugliano but I wasn't able to stay in the wake of the first two. But this podium, on a track that is certainly not our favorite, feels like a victory to me."

M”I can only be disappointed. In Race1 I had difficulty being fast, but in Race2 I could definitely challenge for the podium because, with the changes we made, we were in a better position" - he declared Marco Melandri– “Unfortunately it went badly, and it wasn't my fault. The good thing is that we have collected important information on how to adapt the bike to my riding style. Now I want to think race by race, always trying to improve until I get the good results that are within my reach."
