Michael van der Mark achieved good performances in his debut weekend with the Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team, which earned him a ninth and seventh place respectively in the two races of the Yamaha Finance Australian Round: with the points obtained the Dutchman occupies now seventh position in the general classification.

Between the two heats, his men in the pits made a change to the set-up of his YZF-R1 and this seems to have paid off in terms of feeling and race pace: Van der Mark finished 7 seconds behind the winner Jonathan Rea, against the eleven of Game 1 and therefore felt he had made a good step forward.

“For me it's very positive that we were much closer to the leaders and I was happy to ride my bike even when the tires started to wear out. So Race 2 was very positive for me and I can't wait to race in Thailand” – he commented Michael Van der Mark – “I have the feeling that we finally found what we were looking for. I had to keep the bike very close to the corner every day, but today I finally had more confidence riding the bike out of the corner."
