Markus Reiterberger will not take part in the Prosecco DOC UK Round due to a serious form of flu which forced him to be admitted to hospital under observation: in his place we will see the British rider Peter Hickman in action alongside Tom Sykes in the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team, who currently for the Smith BMW Racing Team in the British Superbike Championship and has finished in the top 5 of the championship for the last two years.

For him it is a return to the World Series Championship, given that he had already taken part in his home round in 2012, finishing in ninth place.

“First of all, I'm sorry for Markus and I wish him a speedy recovery. At the same time, I am happy to ride for the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK team at Donington Park. I didn't have to think about it for long when I got the call from Shaun Muir! I want to thank the team for their trust and for my team, Smiths Racing BMW, to let me compete in WorldSBK this weekend. A big thank you goes to Dunlop UK, as I was due to race in the French Superbike championship for them this weekend and they allowed me to spend it in WorldSBK. It's been several years since I've done some racing in this championship. But I know the BMW S 1000 RR and the Donington Park track, so I am confident that I can do a good job for the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK team” – declared Peter Hickman.
