This time Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) had to defend first position from a very determined Toprak Razgatlioglu (Turkish Puccetti Racing) but in the end he managed to collect a fantastic hat-trick in front of his home crowd, the first of 2019, establishing himself as leader of the classic world championship.

Alvaro Bautista (ARUBA.IT Racing – Ducati) this time contains the "damage" and finishes the race on the podium, in third position ahead of Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team) and Leon Haslam (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK).

The real battle, however, was at the front with Razgatlioglu taking first position and going after his first WorldSBK victory.

With a strong braking at the Melbourne Loop, the Turkish driver managed to consolidate his lead but two laps later Rea overtook the young talent who was also overtaken by Haslam at the Foggy Esses. But at the Melbourne Loop, Razgatlioglu handed the position back to the Englishman. Subsequently, the 22-year-old overtook Rea once again who, however, did not give up on him, managing to overtake him definitively after 12 laps thanks to a mistake by Toprak at the Foggy Esses.

Returning to the rest of the group, Loris Baz finishes sixth ahead of Tom Sykes, followed by Michael van der Mark and Chaz Davies, tenth Marco Melandri (GRT Yamaha WorldSBK).
Peter Hickman (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) placed 11th, ahead of Michael Ruben Rinaldi (BARNI Racing Team), followed by Sandro Cortese (GRT Yamaha WorldSBK), Leandro Mercado (Orelac Racing VerdNatura) and Alessandro Delbianco (Althea Mie Racing Team) in complete the points zone.
