A track suited to him was needed to regain feeling with the bike and results in one fell swoop: Chaz Davies (ARUBA.IT Racing – Ducati) after placing eighth in qualifying, managed to climb up to second position, which he lost right at the last at the end of a good battle with Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team).

For the first time in the 2019 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship we saw both Panigale V4 R's on the podium, that of Alvaro Bautista on the top step while that of Davies closed the top 3.

At the end of this race, the 32-year-old expressed his happiness and gratitude: “I'm very happy with the result, especially for being back on the podium – he explained – I think I'm happier for the team than for myself! The guys in the team have worked so hard over the winter and in the first two rounds and it's not easy at all when things don't go well, so this result is for them!”

Davies has stood on the podium at MotorLand Aragon 11 times, no other driver holds this record and this was also the fifth time he finished in the top three at the finish line after qualifying higher than sixth.

“Overall we improved, even compared to Friday's free practice – added the Ducati rider – We needed to fix some details to score points. I think everyone has taken a step forward and we, like the others, have started to have our own references. It seems that Alvaro has found the right feeling from day one and I think it's fantastic to see how he manages to demonstrate the full potential of the bike while we are still looking for answers."
