The Pirelli Aragon Round, the inaugural event of the 2021 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, got underway at MotorLand Aragon with the first Free Practice session.
In the lead we find Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha with BRIXX WorldSBK), the only one to dip under 1'50": 1'49.952 placed in the last attempt, with which he precedes Chaz Davies (Team GoEleven) by about three tenths. best Ducati rider in the session that opened the season, and the American Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team).

The first of the Kawasakis was that of Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK), who took the lead 15 minutes after the start until the last attempt by Razgatlioglu, Davies and Gerloff.
Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.It Racing – Ducati), on his debut with the official Ducati, was fifth and closed with a time of 1'50.741 which allowed him to end the session ahead of the new BMW M 1000 RR of Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team).
Scott Redding (Aruba.It Racing – Ducati) ended the morning in 11th place, just behind Team HRC rider Alvaro Bautista who set the top speed of the session. The Spaniard's teammate, Leon Haslam, is eighth. Excellent first session for Tito Rabat (Barni Racing Team) who placed 12th on his debut with his new team: no rookie had ever done so well in FP1.
The next round is scheduled for 15:00 pm (local and Italian time).
