The tenth round of the World Series Championship will be a special event for Markus Reiterberger, who will finally be able to return to the track after the three months of forced stop due to the fracture of the D2 vertebra suffered in Race2 at Misano, and he will do so right in front of his public, at the EuroSpeedWay Lausitzring.

The young rookie, who knows this track well having competed on it in the German Championship, also managed to carry out a few days of testing, to begin to regain confidence with his BMW 1000 RR Superbike in view of his first home round.

He spoke to www.WorldSbk.com about how he has put the injury behind him and how he can't wait to get back on the bike.

Welcome back to the paddock Markus, after the terrible accident at Misano. First of all how are you and what happened?

"A thousand thanks! I feel good now, at Misano I made a mistake by braking too late to try to pass Nicky Hayden and thus touched Chaz Davies. I took a big flight through the air and broke two vertebrae. Three months later I'm ready to get back on track, I have some pain but I feel good to be back and I can't wait to race."

When you were flying, did you have time to think “Oh no, I crashed”?

I wasn't thinking at the time but the pain I felt a few hours later was perhaps the worst moment and it took me a long time to recover.

People ask if Reiterberger can finish on the podium, what do you think?

It's true, my goal is the podium but after a long injury it's not easy to get back on track and stay in front straight away. As far as I'm concerned, I'm happy if I can finish in the top 10, feel good on the bike and go back to my old riding style. The season has gone well so far, with what problems, but I think it's normal. The first season is never easy, we had some ups and downs and we can only give our best for next season and then we should be strong. This weekend would be fantastic for me if the weather remained sunny, but the forecast is for a bit of rain. We'll see why you never know here. When it rains, it's really difficult to drive, but at least it will be the same for everyone.

Will you still be with the Althea BMW Racing Team next year?

My contract is for another year, I am very happy about this and I will try to finish the season well to prepare for next year.
