Today at the Chang International Circuit, Thailand, was truly a spectacular and hard-fought Superpole until the end: Jonathan Rea came out on top by just 11 thousandths, followed once again by Leon Haslam and Chaz Davies.

The Aprila Racing Red Devils rider was always among the first in the test sessions, putting on a show and driving in a decidedly aggressive manner to make the most of his RSV4.
After setting the best time on the first attempt on the soft tyre, Leon continued his run by further improving his performance: unfortunately a small error in the final stages prevented him from winning his first Superpole with Aprilia.
However, the great work carried out in the pits in the test sessions allows Haslam to appear on the grid with comforting results in terms of race pace, on a circuit where the high temperatures will make the correct management of tire wear vital.

“I'm happy with this Superpole, the front row was our goal. In the first lap with long-term tires I was perhaps a little too cautious, while in the second I made a small mistake." she said Leon Haslam – “In any case, from a race pace point of view we are in good shape, the Aprilia guys worked great and the RSV4 adapted quickly to the new circuit. Tomorrow the track conditions will be different again, I expect more riders capable of challenging for the victory."

Jordi Torres lapped here for the first time in Superpole with the Pirelli qualifying tyre, given that the last session had been suspended in Australia, and achieved an excellent fifth time which will allow him to start from the second row tomorrow.

“I would have needed a few more laps this weekend, unfortunately the rain this morning practically made us lose a session” – he said Jordi Torres – “In FP4 we managed to do an excellent job, getting back to the front but above all increasing my feeling with the RSV4. In Superpole I used a time tire for the first time, the second row isn't really bad but when you ride an Aprilia it's never enough! Tomorrow we have to make good use of the warmup to improve further, especially in braking where I haven't yet found the right solution to brake hard while keeping the bike stable."
