The first day of official testing at Phillip Island saw Leon Camier's Suzuki ahead of everyone: the Englishman, in progressive and constant growth, completed more than 44 laps and also managed to beat Max Biaggi's old record by stopping the time on 1'31''243.

Camier used the morning to tidy up his bike after last week's accident; at the end of the lunch break, however, the Englishman set out to conquer the best time of the day.

Here are his statements at the end of this first day of testing:

“After the crash last week, this morning we had to reset the bike. During the lunch break we managed to perfect some details that didn't allow me to feel comfortable and drive as before the accident. The feeling then returned to what it was before: we had to make some adjustments due to the heat but I managed to repeat last week's times (when it was cooler ed.) so I'd say we did a good job. The ranking is very tight and we know that the others are constantly growing too. We've done a good job so far but the race will be much more difficult, we have to keep working hard.”

The new home purchase Suzuki FIXI Crescent is also satisfied, Jules cluzel, who stated:

“I'm very happy with how this first day went: every time I got on the track I improved. I can't think of making giant strides straight away because in Superbike it's very risky, as I saw last Thursday. Today we tried many things: we didn't aim for the fastest lap but we worked hard to improve and find the most congenial setting for me. Tomorrow I will have the chance to continue trying and try to improve, we'll see what happens."
