Having completed the two days of testing, Phillip Island is preparing to host, as per tradition, the first seasonal round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship: the behavior of the Pirelli tires will also be crucial for the final outcome of the three scheduled races, this too 'single supplier year.

On the Australian track the tires are subjected to strong and constant thermo-mechanical work, especially on the left side due to the layout of the track, and usually there is overheating of an area of the tire but at the same time it is also on the maximum angle of bending which generates different drift forces with very strong torsion and oblique work. Phillip Island therefore has the characteristic of being a circuit capable of generating both constant mechanical stress and thermal stress for the tires at the same time.

Following the data and information received from the riders, Pirelli has decided to confirm almost all the solutions that were used during the tests for the race weekend, which will also be joined by other development solutions.

The tender solutions:

In the WorldSBK class the riders, in addition to the intermediate and wet tires which are always present at all rounds in case of adverse weather, will have six slick solutions available, three at the front and the same number at the rear. The front options, all also used during the tests, are the new standard SC1 in soft compound and in sizes 120/70 and 125/70 and the development SC2 X1071 also in size 125/70 but in medium compound.
As for the rear options, a third option in the soft SC1 compound is added to the two development SC0 medium compounds already present in the tests. All three of these solutions are in a larger size 200/65 and the soft SC0 compound option could be very interesting for the Superpole® Tissot Race on Sunday morning as well as as a lead-in tire to the use of the qualifying rubber in the Superpole session ® on Saturday.

In WorldSSP600 the riders will be able to count on two front and two rear solutions. For the front there will be the standard SC1 and SC2 already present in the tests, while for the rear the options are both in SC1 compounds: in addition to the U1 development SC1149 already seen in action during the tests, a second option is added, the X1434, which like the U1149 comes in the larger size 190/60 but has a structure designed to offer greater resistance.
