The news came out in recent days and was confirmed by those directly involved: Niccolò Canepa will have to appear before the Justice of the Peace in Florence because he is accused of the crime of negligent personal injury.

During an amateur free practice session, which took place on the Mugello track on 23 September 2013, the Genoese champion would have - without meaning to, according to the accusation - activated the front brake lever of the motorbike driven by Davide Cappato, causing it to tip forward between the Poggio Secco curve and the Materassi.

There is a video on the episode which is being highly clicked on YouTube these days and has given rise to a series of comments and discussions on the web by users, stigmatized by Genesio Bevilacqua, owner of the Althea Ducati team where Canepa is currently employed, through your social profile.
The images of the video, acquired during the trial, show a rider taking his left hand off the handlebars and then hitting the front brake lever of the motorcycle next to him, a Suzuki GSX-R 1000.
Davide Cappato paid the price for the accident, suffering a broken collarbone in the impact on the ground, but fortunately he was only grazed by the Triumph of a third oncoming rider.
Up to this point, the facts, which we obviously refrain from commenting on, even if only by reporting third-party comments, given that investigations are underway. Unfortunately I cannot say much because there is a proceeding in progress", Niccolò tells us immediately after concluding the Superpole in an excellent ninth position.

“What I can say is that I have faith in justice and I am sure that the truth will come out” – he commented Niccolò Canepa – “I can't explain how things really happened, but I know full well that I never hurt anyone and I will prove it to the competent bodies. I have always been a driver and a fair person towards everyone, which is why I am calm and I am not at all worried about this video. As for social media, I decided to close them because I'm here competing in a world championship race, and I can't afford to lose concentration because many people insult me without knowing how things went."

Canepa is therefore only focused on the Malaysian weekend and on the two races scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday 2 August.

The hearing is scheduled for 30 September 2015 at the Criminal Justice of the Peace of Florence.

    ..without meaning to?!
But if from the video he comes alongside the rider and you can clearly see that he takes his hand off his handlebars and pulls the brake lever causing him to overturn... this is called bastardization and should be banned...
    To say the least...

I think you should apologize to Canepa immediately...
the one who mocked stoner for falling at the 8 hours!!
      so one of you!

I didn't understand if when you write "the one who mocked stoner for the fall at the 8 hours!!" refers to Canepa or the user.

Canepa is a pilot (who got lost years and years ago) and I would be even more disgusted if a "colleague" (it's an exaggeration to call him a colleague of someone like Stoner) of Casey's mocked him.

I haven't read anything about it (I haven't even seen the video the article refers to).
And I would be curious to read what he said regarding Stoner's fall (provided you were referring to Canepa).

Ps: I wrote to you in another article (it has nothing to do with motorbikes), but I'll ask you the question here.

How is the new headquarters progressing?

        I saw the video now.
        I am speechless.

I agree with ueueue though. She's a real bastard. Surely the rider who suffered it did something to him, but it certainly doesn't justify what Canepa did.

There will be a trial etc and if he is found guilty the punishment must be the withdrawal of his licence.

Canepa wrote: "Stoner will never change...", later withdrawing the comment following the avalanche of insults and the evidence that the fall was not due to pilot error. He later added:
“All I did was write “never changes”. Not insults, not insults, but simply wanting to underline that his nickname "rolling-stoner" was still valid. I DIDN'T KNOW HE HAD HURT HIM AND NO ONE SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM."

“Someone else took a quote from me where I said I didn't care what happened to Stoner, as if I was happy that he got hurt. This is also a pure lie because in the comments before and after I specified that I was sorry for my friend Van Der Mark and Takahashi who couldn't finish the 8h (which Stoner also later said on Twitter). While if Stoner didn't FINISH THE RACE I didn't care, but I felt sorry for the other two because they are friends, while he isn't and I don't like him as a person despite him being the most talented rider I've met on the track".

As for the video, I don't think the images are clear enough to understand what Canepa actually did

Comments about Stoner are frankly avoidable, but given that there is bad blood, they are also certainly not the first to make inappropriate comments

        Thanks n75 I didn't know about that.

For the video I agree with everyone and no one.

In the sense that we first wait to see what justice will do.

But if it was Canepa who put the brakes on, well in my opinion he should be banned from racing.

That is if he is found guilty.

Nothing justifies such a gesture on the track (and I have been frequenting the tracks as an amateur for years).

        @n75

Why is there bad blood between Stoner and Canepa?

  • supermariacion said:

Given that there are often visionaries in blogs who predict the future and who know everything...looking at the video, are you so sure that Canepa gives the brake lever a "hand"???

    1. ueueue said:

..well…he certainly doesn't pat him on the shoulder or clean his visor..

  • supermariacion said:

Ueueue trullala' in fact in my opinion it gives him a cartoon….but apparently your bionic eyes will have focused on the hand while he presses the lever.

    1. ueueue said:

...it may be a cartoon..but given intentionally on the brake lever I don't think it could lead to consequences different from those we have seen..
..could have punched him on the shoulder rather..just to remember someone..
