The first pole of the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli goes to Tom Sykes.

The Englishman from Kawasaki conquers yet another pole of the season ahead of Jonathan Rea and the amazing Ayrton Badovini and Davide Giugliano.

The superpole started as a "wet superpole", upending all the teams' strategies.

In the first of the two qualifying splits, many big names were unable to record valid times to enter the top eight, complicating their lives from a race perspective; Max Biaggi, Marco Melandri and Carlos Checa will in fact start from the back.

None of them are obviously satisfied with this result; Marco Melandri suffered severe chattering problems, Max Biaggi first closed himself in the silence of his helmet and then revealed that he had never imagined being able to stay out of the fight for pole on the Misano circuit. As for the reigning world champion Carlos Checa, his team manager Genesio Bevilacqua took full responsibility for the mistake and the terrible result achieved. Team Althea, in fact, miscalculated the timing for the tire change and called the driver back to the garage, preventing him from completing one of his best laps, a lap that would have allowed him to remain in the fight for pole.

In the second split a slip put Sylvain Guintoli out of the race for pole; Kuba Smrz, Leon Haslam and Eugene Laverty could do nothing against Sykes, Rea, Badovini and Giugliano.

Worth noting is the good performance of the wild card Matteo Baiocco ninth, Loris Baz eleventh, Michel Fabrizio twelfth and Lorenzo Zanetti fifteenth ahead of Carlos Checa.

A lot of brawl is therefore expected for tomorrow's races; Biaggi, Melandri and Checa will have to fight like lions to move up, which is not easy on this track, while Sykes, Rea and their teammates will immediately try to escape.
