Superbike Misano, Tissot-Superpole: Another pole and record for Tom Sykes

Tremendous qualifying for the English driver who finished ahead of Rea and an extraordinary Xavi Fores

superbikes, Pirelli Riviera di Rimini Round, Tissot-Superpole. This time too Tom Sykes leaves crumbs to his opponents in qualifying: sixth pole position of the season for him and a track record, with a fantastic 1'34.057 achieved on the edge of the checkered flag, when it seemed Rea and Xavi Fores were competing for the best lap .

And yet also at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, theater of the eighth round of the season, the English Kawasaki rider, 2013 world champion, will start from the first spot on the starting grid of the two races: next to him is his teammate Jonathan Rea, which he beat by a full two tenths, and an amazing Xavi Fores on the Panigale of the Barni Racing team, over half a second further away, who was at the top of the standings a few minutes from the end.
The Spanish driver will be a difficult customer in the race too, given that today's third time is the result of an excellent job done in free practice, where he was constantly among the fastest.

Sykes took this pole which he cared a lot about, lowering the circuit record by two tenths and inflicting large gaps, the first 12 are in fact enclosed in almost two seconds even if Torres in 12th had some problems with the bike, confirming himself practically unbeatable on the dry ride.
In the press conference yesterday he said that he was very calm and this state of mind was evident today in qualifying, when he came out three minutes from the end and placed his Ninja in front of everyone, uncatchable.

Lots of bad luck for Ducati, however, with Davide Giugliano who slipped in the early stages of SP2 at the exit of turn 2 and had to abort his lap to return to the pits: for him only a seventh time, a good seven tenths behind Sykes, a a little disappointing given the good conditions after free practice.
It will be a comeback race for the Roman driver, as well as for his teammate Chaz Davies who finishes poorly with the ninth fastest time, one second behind the leader: it promises to be an uphill race for them.

An excellent fourth time instead for Alex Lowes, who we remember is not at his best due to the injury suffered at Donington, who will therefore start in the second row next to Lorenzo Savadori, who was decidedly much more effective today, who started from SP1 and earned an excellent position on the starting grid, six and a half tenths behind Sykes, and Nicky Hayden with the sixth fastest time.

Third row as we said for Davide Giugliano, seventh, Leon Camier eighth, who also passed from the first heat, and Chaz Davies.
Michael Van der Mark completes the top 10 and opens the fourth row, together with the Althea Racing team drivers Markus Reiterberger and Jordi Torres who perhaps expected a better placing after yesterday's free practice.

Meet at 13pm with the start of Race 00.
