Superbike, Pirelli Riviera di Rimini Round. Positive day of free practice for the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team, which this weekend is busy at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli for the eighth round of the championship.

The timed practice sessions, especially the second, saw a particularly short time ranking: in fact, only five tenths separated the top ten riders, with Davide Giugliano and Chaz Davies occupying fourth (+0.197) and sixth respectively ( +0.216) position.

Giugliano also set the best time in FP1 with a 1'35.460, a benchmark that remained unchanged given that in the afternoon he focused on the race pace, testing the tires over long distances to evaluate their deterioration.
Davies, however, shaved over half a second between the two sessions, finishing with a 1'35.479 and trying different compounds in search of optimal grip.
Both drivers gained direct access to Superpole 2, set for 10am local time, before the start of Race 55 at 1pm.

“Today was a more than positive day. In the morning we managed to be the fastest, while in the afternoon we concentrated more on the pace, bringing a rear tire to race distance and making our best lap in FP2 right at the end" – he said David Giugliano – Now we have to work to shave off a couple more tenths in the fastest sections of the track, improving acceleration and stability, but our long-distance pace is very competitive."

“Today we worked mainly on the chassis, also trying different tire solutions to evaluate wear. The temperature is higher than when we did the tests, but the lap times haven't changed much" – he commented Chaz Davies – At the moment, we are struggling a bit especially when opening the throttle at maximum lean angle, even if only in some corners. We need a little more grip and support, and now we will work together with the team to make the necessary steps forward in view of Race 1."
