Superbikes | Michele Pirro will replace Camier in the Jerez tests

Leon Camier (BARNI Racing Team) will not take part in the two days of testing in Jerez due to the fracture of his left wrist and shoulder, caused by the fall suffered during the tests at the Motorland of Aragon, two weeks ago: in his place we will see Michele Pirro, already a winner in WorldSSP and who with the BARNI Racing Team won some titles in the Italian CIV Superbike Championship.

Camier crashed at turn 9 in Aragon during the second day of testing and was taken to hospital to assess his condition. He did not undergo surgery and it seems that it is not necessary given that conservative treatment should lead to a recovery within the expected time frame. The Briton will therefore not be on track for the Jerez tests as a precaution: the BARNI Racing Team will field Michele Pirro. The Ducati Test Team MotoGP™ test rider will have the task of supporting the development program of the V4 R Panigale.

Team principal Marco Barnabò said regarding the misfortune: “I'm disappointed since Leon needs to improve his feeling with the bike but his physical condition is obviously the most important thing. For this reason we have mutually decided not to take risks. We already plan to test new components and for this reason we opted to take to the track with Michele, a rider we know well. I think it will be very useful for us to understand how to develop the bike for Leon."
