Fassi Malaysian Round: Team Pata Yamaha will have to face the sixth round of the Championship, scheduled for this weekend at the Sepang International Circuit, fielding only Alex Lowes.

Due to the ankle injury suffered in Imola in qualifying, Sylvain Guintoli will not take to the track and given the proximity in time between the two rounds, it was not possible to identify a suitable replacement.
The 2014 world champion is awaiting further analysis on the state of recovery from the fracture in his left ankle, before understanding when he will likely be able to play in the match again.

The young Lowes will therefore have all eyes on him and he arrives in Malaysia on the wave of his best personal result obtained in Imola, a sixth place in Race 2, and to continue the development of the YZF-R1.
The Englishman said that in his opinion this challenge, in which very high temperatures, around 40°, and considerable humidity levels are expected, will be very similar to the one faced in Thailand, two months ago, so Yamaha will probably start from data collected on that occasion.

“I'm happy to go to Sepang and try to improve results for Yamaha, for myself and for the team. I hope we can use some of the lessons learned in the Imola race and I hope we can be a little closer to the leading riders – he declared alex lowes – “This is a very wide track, which requires a lot of precision to ensure you don't add 200m to your lap, there are some areas which require hard braking, which you arrive at at full speed, so the bike must respond very well. The track is quite flat but there were some corners that were a bit damaged and I hope that the resurfacing has improved the situation. These are probably the hottest races of the year, but in general Sepang is a track where you have fun driving!
It's a shame that Sylvain can't race here due to the fracture, he has a lot of experience and is fast on this track. I wish him all the best and hope he can return, and be fully fit, for Donington Park."

The Sepang International Circuit has hosted the Superbike world championship for three consecutive years, but this weekend the riders will find some new features waiting for them on the track: the surface has in fact been resurfaced and some corners have been modified, to ensure better drainage in consideration of the frequent storms.
The main characteristics of the track are the two straights, which measure almost a kilometer each, joined by a hairpin bend, created specifically to give life to exciting duels.
