Superbike, Fassi French Round, Race 1. At the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours in the first heat of the eleventh round, the uncertain conditions of the track, wet but drying, led to a great show, where Leon Camier, starting from fifth position on the grid, was in the lead with asphalt mixed.

The English rider, who we remember during the winter break last year decided to lose 5/6 kg to improve the performance of his MV, with rain tires exhibited masterful driving on a track that was difficult to interpret, which featured patches of damp and dry.
Unfortunately the asphalt started to dry out completely, his tires couldn't hold up, but by then it was too late to return to the pits for a change, as we were now around the 15th lap.

“It was quite an exciting thing to lead the race and above all to overtake the two Kawasakis. We made some changes for the race after the warm up and in qualifying it went well, but I felt like I was at the limit in every corner, so we made some more changes and the set up was very good. I'm very happy about this” – exclaimed a happy man Leon Camier – “The electronics are working very well but during the race I noticed that the track was drying out and that the tires were becoming hotter and hotter and were wearing out,” explained the Briton. “Basically Savadori was faster on the wet tyres, but I think this is something we can work on in mixed conditions. Overall we were really strong in the wet and I'm happy with that. I don't think that if I had changed the tires to slicks, the results would have been so different."

Returning to the race, camier tries to explain why he wanted to continue with the rain tires, continuing to push in first position until they practically disintegrated: "To be honest, when I was in front today... Well it's always easier to judge when you're behind and see what the others are doing, being in front it was difficult to see where it was wet and where it wasn't. Everything looks more or less the same when the sun shines on the asphalt, and that makes the decision difficult.” – He then continued Leon Camier – “The plan before the race was that the team would tell me when to come in, but I knew the pit stop would be too slow so I would end up fighting for the same position. We know this is something we can improve on."

The English driver will try to get on the podium today in Race 2, start at 13pm.
