With the two night races at the Losail International Circuit as the backdrop, the curtain has fallen on the 2016 season of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship and the time has come to celebrate the winners and protagonists of the year.

The awards ceremony took place in Qatar last Sunday in which Jonathan Rea and Kenan Sofuoglu received all the honors that their reconfirmation of the world title, in WorldSuperbike and WorldSupersport, rightly entails.
Rea's second consecutive title came at the end of an incredible season, dotted with 9 victories, 23 podiums and two pole positions, and is a special result for the fans since the last one to manage to confirm it was Carl Forgarty in two-year period 1998-1999.
Kenan Sofuoglu won the title for the fifth time, now confirming himself as a legend in the category, following a season in which he achieved nine podiums and six victories.

They were also joined on stage by the winners of the Tissot Superpole, Tom Sykes and the omnipresent Kenan Sofuoglu, those of the Pirelli Best Lap, Chaz Davies and Kyle Smith (CIA Laudlord Insurance Honda), and the constructors' title of both classes .
This year too, Tom Sykes managed to confirm himself as a master in the fastest lap, with eight poles: an extraordinary result if we consider that Chaz Davies and Jonathan Rea stopped at two.
However, the Welshman made up for it with the fastest laps, scoring 10, while his Supersport colleague was the fastest on the track 5 times: a great result if we think that the reigning champion, Sofuoglu, only set one two.
