Superbike, Pirelli German Round, Race 2. This morning on the EuroSpeedWay Lausitzring there was a cloudy sky that didn't bode well: a few minutes before the start of the second race a storm messed up all the teams' work and forced the drivers to revolutionize their strategies.

The race started about 40 minutes late and was reduced to 16 laps due to precarious safety conditions due to the completely flooded track and poor visibility, especially on the straight.
Starting well at the start, Jonathan Rea immediately took the lead from Sykes who also crashed shortly afterwards, returning to 17th position.
This time the pitfalls of the track favored the reigning champion and gave a further jolt in the standings, this time in his favour, also because it seemed clear from the first corners that Davies would not be able to worry him today.
Race 2 was a real elimination race, with the riders lapping at very high times, the fastest being an average of 1'59, and paying particular attention to avoiding puddles of water, with the asphalt drying very quickly. not homogeneous.
Many excellent names saw their race end prematurely, with only Sykes slipping and seeing the checkered flag, 12th: Davide Giugliano paid for his excessive impetuosity when he was fighting for second position, as did Lorenzo Savadori, ALex Lowes , Jordi Torres, Markus Reiterberger, who had to retire not without some shivers.

With Rea having his own race, Davies unable to fight for the top positions, and Sykes relegated to the rear to jostle, the fight for the podium involved the new faces of Alex De Angelis, second, and Xavi Fores , third, to the delight of their respective teams.
With the fourth place finish Leon Camier equaled his best placing of the season, ahead of a great Sylvain Guintoli who took home a fifth place in not yet perfect physical conditions.
It should be noted that the Frenchman was one of the few who believed it was possible to race on this track, given his great experience and his strong sensitivity in the wet.
Sixth place, which smacks of disappointment, for Chaz Davies who gets close to Sykes but sees Rea slip away in the world championship standings; Josh Brookes was satisfied in seventh place.
The top ten is completed by Van der Mark's eighth place, by Roman Ramos and by Nicky Hayden, author of an inevitable straight in the final laps, essential to avoid Alex Lowes who slipped in front of him.
Luca Scassa's eleventh place was excellent, worth valuable points, ahead of Tom Sykes who managed to overtake Gianluca Vizziello in the final meters.

With this extraordinary victory, Jonathan Rea forgets the two consecutive bad races he experienced between Laguna Seca and yesterday, however caused by technical problems on his Ninja, and with the 25 points gained today he renews his leadership, taking himself to +47 on Sykes and +98 on Davies , with 150 points still up for grabs.

The fight for the world title will resume on Friday 30 September with free practice for the Fassi French Round, on the Nevers Magny-Cours circuit.
