In the days following the Qatar round which ended the 2014 ENI FIM Superbike World Championship in an unfortunate way for the team, Kawasaki announced that Jonathan Rea will join Tom Sykes next year.

The rumor had been circulating for some time and was taken for granted (we ourselves have written it several times), all that was missing was the official press release from the team, which with this appointment now has a very competitive line up, with two of the top three classified this season.

KRT's journey ahead of next season includes an intense testing programme, which will begin as early as this month in Spain.

“After having worked for three years with Loris Baz, in order to be able to develop a young talent, we will start the 2015 season with a new strategy and an experienced and complete driver like Johnny Rea” – commented the KRT Team Manager, Guim Roda – “We are sure that his arrival will make the whole team take a leap forward and that he will get along well with Tom Sykes. Both will push each other to improve and find the limits of the Ninja ZX-10R. We expect to do well and we will give our best to take back the title.”

“I am really happy that a driver with this level of experience is now part of our team. For me and the whole team this is happy news” – he said Riba pears, who will be Rea's chief mechanic next season – “I believe that we have managed to show that we have a good base and we are giving our all to make the bike even better. I believe we will be able to give Jonathan the tools to be able to fight for the title. The winter tests will start very soon and I am positive about the choice made by Kawasaki to have Jonathan. As technical chief I will try to give him my best, not only on a technical level, but also in other areas. It will be a good season.”
