Superbike – Race 1 Misano – Victory for Max Biaggi

Max Biaggi took victory in Race 1 of the Superbike World Championship on the Misano Adriatico circuit. The four-time 250 world champion beat Carlos Checa and Troy Corser to the finish line, thus winning yet another race of the season with his Aprilia and increasing his lead in the championship.

He is now 32 points ahead of Leon Haslam who did not do better than eighth place, also preceded in the sprint by Noriyuki Haga. Aprilia also leads the manufacturers' classification.

On the podium, as mentioned, Carlos Checa, who remained behind Biaggi with the Ducati Althea Racing, and Troy Corser, first in the standings with his BMW before overtaking the Roman rider.

Michel Fabrizio's Ducati is in fourth position, ahead of Sylvain Guintoli on the Suzuki, while James Toseland is only 10th. Cal Crutchlow crashed while starting from the front row.
