Awards are pouring in for Jonathan Rea: at the end of the year the University of Ulster awarded him an honorary degree in Literature for his contribution to sport.

An important tribute which demonstrates how the impact of the multiple World Champion, the first rider to have won four consecutive titles in the FIM Superbike World Championship, is not only derived from his record-breaking performances on motorbikes but also in general on the entire world of two wheels, for which it now represents a constant point of reference.
In fact, at the moment Rea is not only one of the most successful Superbike riders of all time, but he is also the most important Northern Irish athlete of the moment.

Jonathan Rea started racing on the track in 2003, after taking his first steps in motocross. Following his splendid performance in the British Superbike Championship he arrived at the world championship in 2008, ending his first season in World Supersport in second position.
From 2009 to 2014 he continued his journey in WorldSBK with Honda and then moved to the Kawasaki Racing Team in 2015. From then on Rea dominated, becoming the man to beat and winning the title four times.

“I am truly happy to receive this honorary degree. I did well at school and was a model student, but my passion for motorbikes and the desire to chase the dream of becoming World Champion did not allow me to go to university, like many of my friends and family" - confessed Jonathan Rea after receiving the award – “Fourteen years ago a doctor told me I would never race again due to a track injury and now I find myself being awarded an honorary degree for my contribution to the sport, it's quite funny! For this reason, I want to encourage every person who has a dream or ambition to never give up. You have to believe in yourself and, with the help and encouragement of others, you will be able to make your dreams come true."
