Although the summer break of the production-derived World Championship began after the Laguna Seca round, some teams decided to postpone the holidays and concentrate on a two-day test at the Lausitzring in Germany, the scene of the tenth round of the season in September.

The reason is given by the fact that the track is unknown to practically all drivers, given that the circuit has returned to the calendar this year after a long absence.

Among those present were Aruba.it Racing – Ducati, with Chaz Davies and Davide Giugliano, Althea Racing BMW with Jordi Torres and STK1000 rider Raffaele De Rosa, who once again replaced Markus Reiterberger, still struggling with rehabilitation from the injury caused by Marco Simoncelli's fall in Race 2 at the Misano World Circuit.
With them also the Barni Racing Team, MV Agusta Reparto Corse and the Supersport teams Kawasaki Puccetti Racing and Orelac Racing VerdNatura, and that of the STK100 Aruba.it Junior Team.

Among the so-called "big" teams, the Kawasaki Racing Team currently has no testing scheduled, but it is not excluded that it will return to the track before the tenth round, while Honda and Yamaha are preparing for the famous Suzuka 8 Hours.

“All in all, it was a very positive test” – he said Chaz Davies – “I was a bit disappointed after the last races because we hadn't managed to find the usual feeling with the bike, but we made some adjustments to the electronics and chassis and it seems that we have found the best sensations. The priority was learning the track, which turned out to be more fun than expected but needs some work. The potholes, in particular, make it difficult to learn. We did a lot of laps, and I think the time on race tires is very good, so we go on holiday tired and happy."

“It was important for us to come and test on this track before the race” – he added David Giugliano – “The last time I shot here was 2007, and I didn't remember it very well. The track is very beautiful and fun to tackle, the only problem are the potholes. However, we did a good job on the set up, evaluating various solutions that should help us further in these last four races. We have collected some references that will be very useful for us ahead of the race."

Before the Pirelli German Round begins, the tenth round of the season, from 16 to 18 September, further private tests are scheduled at the Lausitzring, although the teams are yet to be confirmed.
