Superbike: Hunt for Rea in the fourth round at Assen
After Aragon Chaz Davies is the first credited antagonist. Micheal van der Mark is expected to give a great performance in front of his home crowd.
The round at the TT Circuit in Assen kicks off this morning with the first free practice, scheduled for 11am, all eyes are on Jonathan Rea and Chaz Davies, as well as home idol Michael van der Mark.
In the usual Thursday press conference, the two winners of the Aragon round were asked some questions via Twitter (askWorldSBK) and live.
“The biggest difference between the bike used last year and the Kawasaki is the colour” – he commented jokingly Jonathan Rhea, while Chaz Davies explained the way in which he celebrated the first success with Ducati, as well as the first of the Panigale era for the Italian manufacturer: “I drank a glass of red wine” – admitted the Welshman – “but I guarantee you that if it goes well again this Sunday, there will be a party in garage 18”.
Among the pilots present, Michael van der Mark he is obviously the one who received the warmest welcome: the reigning World Supersport Champion is therefore keen to give the Dutch public some satisfaction even if "I would choose to win the title if the choice was between this and success in the home race. In any case, I will do my best to get a good result here!” he commented.
If teammate van der Mark, Sylvain Guintoli, once again stated that there is still a lot of work to do, Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia) said he was not entirely surprised by the good level achieved in his first round after returning to the team with which he became STK1000 champion in 2010.
